| OK -- you asked for it -- here goes…
In humans, each parent contributes 1 of 2 sets of genes to the baby; half of their genetic material, which unites to give the baby one full set.
Normal Antarian babies require that all 6 of the gene-sets contributed by three parents (two males and a female) be present for a child to develop. Once the additional male genes are present in the egg, selection occurs, the dominant genes winning out and the baby ends-up with the 2 most dominant gene-sets (not very different from humans, only with a wider range of choices - 6 sets to choose from instead of 4)
The situation is slightly more complicated in Antarian/Human hybrids:
(Antarian Genes = A, Human Genes = H)
In that case the genes with numerical superiority win unless A and H are equal, in which case A is always stronger or superior.
If a human male and a fully Antarian female were to mate:
Father=HH
Mother=AA
Baby’s only possible selection is HHAA and the Antarian genes win -- baby is Antarian - AA
But we are not dealing with Fully Antarian people here - Max, Michael, Isabel and Tess are hybrids. If you remember (in my story) Antarian men must mate with each other and then pass-along both sets of Genes to the woman (through an Antarian male) (Hence the 6 genes for selection)
Human-Antarian hybrids have both Human and Antarian genes, so lets look at the characters..
Max=AH
Michael=AH
Isabel=AH
Tess=AH
Kyle=HH
Alex=HH
Jesse=HH
Maria=HH
Liz=HH
Here's the prime example from the Roswell Canon with my rules applied:
Tess=AH
Max=AH
Kyle=HH
In this case the numbers favor the H-sets so the baby will end-up HH or human.
(This is how everyone in the pod-squad knew, in my story, that Max had to have mated with a human male for baby-Zan to have been born human.)
Look What happens if Michael and Max had been the males who mated with each other and then Tess:
Tess=AH
Max=AH
Michael=AH
In this case, the A-set genes would rule because they are equal in number to the H-sets, so the baby would get AA and must be Antarian. (This is actually what the Antarians had planned-on, (Max/Mi) but didn’t get)
Now, human men do not need to mate with another male to be fertile; the human genes are self-sufficient, and the baby is formed from the preponderance of 2 sets so in the question of Isabel and Kyle, the solution is much simpler:
(To keep this On-topic )
Isabel=AH
Kyle=HH
Baby is HH = Human (because the human genes outnumber the Antarian)
In one of my stories Jesse and Michael are mating (not for love, but out of necessity.) In this configuration, Isabel and Jesse's babies would all be human, because Jesse does not pass-along Michael's genes with his own, but if Maria got pregnant by Michael in this grouping, all her babies would be human too, because that would look like this:
Maria=HH
Michael=AH
Jesse=HH
baby=HH, or human.
This works for all possible groupings of the extended pod-squad. Things might seem more complicated when (in my story) Kyle is genetically altered by the Granolith so that he is fully Antarian, but it really isn't. In my story it works-out like this:
Liz=HH
Max=AH
Kyle=AA (after his conversion)
so all their babies develop from HHHAAA and the Antarian genes take precedence, so (in my stories) all their babies are fully Antarian.
Understand?
I clearly have waaaaay too much time on my hands tonight,... __________________ Alex Parrish Visit my Nick Wechsler Gallery HERE
