Eureka (Returns Tuesday, 7/29, 9/8c, Sci Fi Channel) Thanks to the economic slowdown, Global Dynamics, the secret cutting-edge research facility, will start producing household gadgets for profit. That brings tycoon Eva Thorne (Frances Fisher) to Eureka. Thorne, aka the Fixer, holds some secrets about the founding of the genius-filled town. Sheriff Jack Carter (Colin Ferguson) is none too pleased when his free-spirited sister Lexi (Ever Carradine) shows up and bonds with his impressionable daughter Zoe (Jordan Hinson). Look for more three-way drama between the lawman, Allison (Salli Richardson) and her ex, Nathan Stark (Ed Quinn). And if that’s not enough, Carter’s got another potential love interest on the horizon. “We’re shifting to the lighter side this year with new beginnings and rejuvenation,” promises exec producer Jaime Paglia. Among the wackier plots, a contest to build the most realistic flea-ridden dog, a drone who acts like a rebellious teen and a hapless superhero.
