| Exactly. I mean, after they broke up, he was holding the necklace he gave her and probably thinking where he went wrong. And when he walked up to her locker in 1.05 and she told him that it was over, he looked surprised and a little sad.
It would be nice to imagine them as the fairytale and at the end of S2, I thought they might come back and get that chance but, alas, never happened.
I think the big hinderance for them in S5 was that they were on two different sides of the fence. Nate was always going to stand by his brother, and Haley was new BFFs with Lindsay so Nathan it would have been really hard for Nate to be all Team Peyton. But the love was still there. Nobody could tell him off in a hospital like she could.  __________________ Beth
