It was yet another instance where her felt he knew her heart better than she did.
Truth of the matter was that when she went to Pacey on the boat, it was the first time in a long time that Joey knew exactly who she was and what she wanted. When she went back to Dawson in S2, I think she was still in a tailspin, what with the whole situation with Jack and her father returning. She was on very unstable ground and felt like the only way she could turn was back to Dawson. Their reunion was more of a security blanket than an act of love. It was more about need than want, like it was when she choice Pacey at the end of S3. __________________ Beth
