| i'm just so curious about how they're going to re-build NS. I hope I don't offend anyone but here's a little theory I have:
So far in the show, all we know is that the barstool sex the night of the Sheperd wedding was something that Serena has wanted to forget since the moment it happened. It was something she did in a moment of drunken passion. As for Nate, we've been told again and again and shown that he's in love with her, been in love with her for a long time. His love for Serena was chipping away at his relationship with Blair even before Serena came back and jeopardized it further once she came back. Nate's love for S also appears to be unrequited. That night also almost ruined Serena & Blair's friendship; it was a large catalyst Serena's flight from UES to boarding school. It was the ultimate betrayal on both S/N's part towards Blair, but particularly Serena's. But what if we learn there was a history there? That back before Blair & Nate become bf/gf and they were all just friends, Serena and Nate had started to have real feelings for each other and Blair somehow sensed/knew this and claimed first dibs or even somehow manipulated the situation? Even if Serena had loved Nate, I could imagine her "giving up" Nate for the sake of Blair, only to find her repressed passion for him boiling over the night of the Sheperd wedding. Blair's actions would fit in perfectly with the frenemies theme and Serena giving Nate up would fit perfectly with the theme that she seems to let things happen to her so passively and not fight back. Something like this would make SN not so sprung just out of one night of drunken sex nor a complete betrayal and shift some blame to Blair (Cause you know that girlfriend ain't no innocent) |
