You know we got to be realistic. Lucas has indeed been shown pining for her all season so it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if she came back for a couple more episodes and somewhere I want that so that he can at a certain point choose Peyton over Lindsey when that one is willing to give it another go. I don't know, I just feel we need real closure that we've, despite the many LL/PLi scenes, haven't gotten yet.
