SPA~ Great post! Very thoughtful and thought-filled!!!

I'm mixed about his not having given a shout-out to Amy Pietz. Not like him (!) - unless she's not quite the great friend she was when the series started. But he's always extremely encouraging of young talent - it could be just that simple.

Maybe a break from series TV for a while ... tells me that he's not seeing scripts with parts that feel right for him.

The movie news is thrilling - I just hope he can get the funding. Always "the rub"! After seeing him go in the horror genre direction ... I've been wishing ten times as hard that he'd go in the direction of indies!!! That's a very promising development; hope it's not just long-term.

Pilots - one being read - the more I think about that the more that says to me he wrote two pilots; one's being read. It's the only way that sentence makes any sense!

The life story he wants to write and direct ... in this week's Entertainment Weekly, they talk to Helen Hunt about her latest film - which she stars in, co-wrote, and directed. It took her 10 years to get it done!!! I sincerely hope Scott achieves this dream more than any other - it sounds very personal, very special - and obviously important to him if he wants full artistic control ... but this one's for the long haul - and that's assuming he's able to buy the story rights!

Art - deep down I picture him being more abstract than representational given his nature - but it's only a guess. In some cases I agree with you, razzle, that when I look at a canvas and think "I could've done that" - it doesn't impress me ... where as when I look at a great 19th century French or 17th century Dutch painting ... or John Singer Sargent ... or Matisse (just some examples) - they literally take my breath away! But some abstract painting is extremely interesting and complex, and can only be done by people who have first mastered representational painting ... in which case I say "art" is very much "in the eye of the beholder." Over the years, Jackson Pollack has grown on me (I recommend the film "Pollack" with the warning that it's not a cheery film. Likewise "Frida".) But if it's Scott - whether he's painting sailboats, fruit bowls, vases of flowers ... or splashing paint on the canvas ... or doing intense acrylic animated painting like Roy Lichtenstein - or the character in Heroes (Season 1) ... he's got my full attention!! I just hope he runs off postcards, 'cause if he's any good at all, there's no way I'll be able to afford an SP litho - let alone an original! Unless he didn't want to overload us with info, it sounds a little naive to think he can have a full-time acting, writing (etc.) career - and sell his own artwork on-line. I would think/hope he'll want to be represented by a reputable gallery.....

I wish he would do his own website though - keep us up to date on his "doings" - latest faves - and allow us to leave direct feedback. That would be SO cool!!!!!!!

Last but NOT least(!) - the last line of the message - OMG! One "moment" he's into the gory, bloody thing (the interview when Saw V started filming) ... or calling his romantic lead characters "castrated" (direct quote, folks!) ... then he writes stuff like that. If one wasn't totally blown away by him already(!) after reading stuff like that ... as the man said (different context) - game, set, match! Oh, yeah!!!!!!
