| My time as an extra in Kristen Bells movie When In Rome
On April 24th I arrived at the holding place which was a church near by around 4PM. I checked in went through wardrobe and makeup and hair and got approved. After that we loaded into coach buses and headed over to the Guggenheim Museum in NYC .
There were over 500 people used for this shoot. So it was really crowed but very exciting.
It was really cool to see the real art work the museum had on display which was a series of cars with flashing light coming out of them.
After that the camera set up their shots. Which was very interesting to see. On the ground floor there was a bar and two DJ stations. They then played a beat of the music we would be dancing to and then we were to dance and look like we were chatting.
After that we broke for "lunch" well more like a late night dinner being it was around 8.
About 9 they let us in again. However me and a few friends I made on set that I had met along the way walked on to the ground floor. The ground floor was mostly for SAG members with very few nonunion people. So they thought we were SAG which was awesome! As a result we got to be really close to the cast while the other nonunion extra members were up on the different levels of the museum to look like they were looking at the art exhibit.
We then saw Kristen Bells stand in and watched them set up the shots on the ground floor. It was so cool being next thing I knew I saw Kristen Bell. So it went Kristen Bell this other guy a table and then me. So I am in the shot being she walks across the museum at one point being she is an art director. It was so interesting to see how the camera was set up.
We did some rehearsal of all of us dancing while Kristen said her two lines. We did a few takes being Kristen kept on messing up. However it was the first day of filming and it was late at night. Kristen is so small I mean I am tiny but Kristen is really small. You couldn't talk to the actors. But it was fun she was smiling and having a good time talking to the director.
After that we broke for lunch. Lunch was more like a midnight snake being it was 1 in the morning. So we waited on the bus to pass the time. I think Jon Heder was there as well being the director mentioned his name at one point. But I wasn't sure being there were over 500 people there.
The next shot we took was at 3. It was from the one we did before. I was standing right next to Kristen Bell in the shot! It was really exciting! So look for me on the big screen (I am the one in the green jacket) if they use these scenes.
After that it was mostly closed shoots with just the cast and no extras so we got to leave. By the time we checked out it was 5 in the morning but it was all good and a lot of fun.
It was so funny I even ran into this guy PJ who was my cousins old college roommate his freshman year.
Talk about a small world!
Over all it was a great time met some cool people and had a blast on the When in Rome set!
Hope all is well.
Love,
