This organization has partnered with MTV and aired public service announcements featuring celebrity spokespeople, such as rapper Diddy and actor Adam Brody to advocate that voting is important and even "cool." Such efforts to empower young people, rather than force them to engage in the political process, have proven successful. In 1992, Rock the Vote and its partner organizations ultimately helped lead more than a million new young voters to the polls — a 20 percent increase in youth turnout.
