Ray would actually leave the table and walk through the line shaking hands and taking pictures while we waited. | Neil Roberts (Rex Buckland in Charmed) was MC for several cons I went to and in autograph sessions, he would take the time to get up and greet each fan (guys got a handshake, girls got a kiss on the cheek), then talk to us while he signed our items and then he would get up one more time and give us another handshake/kiss 
And about the line-thing with Adam. Well, there were several fans who were annoyed at the time it took, because some of us were due to appear in the costume competition (but then when we were closing in on the deadline, Adam got up and asked the people in the room, if there were anyone there who were doing the fancy dress and if the others could let these few people come to the front of the queue, so they could get ready), so that matter was solved. Then on Sunday night, there were many fans, I think, that worried about maybe not getting their autographs (since we had all been waiting so long to get Adam out to an event there) and we just didn't know if there would be time for everyone to get through. And they were legitimate concerns, seeing as at there had been guests at previous events where not all attendees managed to get autographs.
Luckily it all turned out well and everyone got the autographs they came from and everyone got some time with Adam. So while it was frustrating and worrysome right in the middle of it, it was really great of him to do this
