Can't we give the writers a break? I don't think this whole mess is their fault.
| Xray, I suspect you are an ER writer turned mole in the Roomie thread. Haha! But, seriously, you are right in that we can't blame the writers that Shane left and they don't have Ray around on a regular basis.
But what I'm irked about is that the writers have done virtually zilch to address where that relationship is going/has gone. We're all big kids here; if the writers decided that they were not going to continue the Roomie relationship, then fine -- but write it into the script. Just don't ignore it and pretend like it was never there. And if it is going somewhere, then throw us a bone now and then.
A few people have said that this week's episode shows that Neela's on the verge of a breakthrough, where she realizes what she wants in life. I feel like she did this already in "I Don't," where she tells Ray that her guilt over Michael and other such hindrances really don't matter that much anymore. She had reached a point where she could accept and act on her feelings for Ray. But then this season, she's back to walking around like she's in denial, and I just don't buy that. She's regressing, and that is so unlike the "do the right thing" Neela we know. I wish the writers would have at least just shown her being a good friend to him, calling to check up on him or something, just once, even with nothing romantic attached.
For the record, I still feel confident that we'll get a Roomie resolution next season -- but right now, it's more for superficial reasons such as it's the series end, they're not opposed to Shane coming back, etc. All those outside pieces support a resolution more than the actual storyline itself! I don't feel the writers did a good job during S.14 of showing a natural progression toward that possible reunion because Neela hasn't so far expressed anything of emotional value concerning Ray, and has instead shown that she's trying to cure her loneliness elsewhere. I hope the next few epis shed more revealing light on all this. __________________ Neela: This is pretty kooky, huh? They might actually give us a storyline!
Ray: Yeah, it's pretty kooky. We got faith in what love can do/don't look back we're gonna make it through/can't stop this love (Ozomatli from "I Don't"). Reunite the Roomies!
