Arthur C. Clarke Passed Away

I just read on yahoo.com that great science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke passed away. This may be a bit of a shock but my dad was actually friends with him, and I even attended a lecture he gave via satellite from his home in Shri Lanka which was casted to the threatre at the Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C. It was such an awesome lecture, about his career, writing. It was by far one of the best lectures I had ever attended at the Air and Space, and now he's gone.

What this man did for science fiction was revolutionary. If you haven't seen 2001: A Space Odyssey, you need to either 1) read the book or 2) go to your nearest bookstore and rent yourself a copy of the movie. And in the credits of the movie, look for my dad's name "Frank H. Winter," as supervisor. I almost didn't believe that he was friends with Mr. Clarke until I saw his name in the credits of that movie.

Rest in Peace, Sir Arthur C. Clarke.

You will be missed by many science fiction fans.

Full yahoo! story is here.
