| Oh VB I can't believe they fired you after one day on that part-time job!
Well, they don't know what a good person they missed out on having work for them, that's all I can say. Definitely was not meant to be!
I should have brought you with me to Florida, Veronic!
And ITA about Tom Cruise - Mr ML and I have decided he is so weird, and we are so suspicious of Scientology (a religion made up by a down on his luck science fiction writer as a get-rich-quick self-help scam), we won't go see any more of his movies. Just like I won't go see any more Woody Allen movies after he ran off with his (basically) step daughter and married her. Eww. As bad as Cordelia sleeping with Angel's son!
Your grandmother's eye thing sounds like what my dad has - part of the eye gets like a cloud in it, when you are older, or too much sun, whatever causes that to happen. But they fix this all the time now with old people. Still, I think doing anything to your eye is very scary! (but don't tell Grandma I said that, so she won't be scared!) :>
Mr ML and I once set the alarm to wake up in the middle of the night to look at an eclipse. But I agree, who wants to be awake at 4 a.m.?!
MLette and I had a good time watching the Oscars last night! Her boyfriend came and watched with us too until he had to go to work (he works an overnight shift). We thought about putting on gowns and having a real 'Oscar party' but it's much too chilly this time of year to wear skimpy long dresses! (And probably none would fit me anymore, but that's another story). The show wasn't that exciting and I'm not crazy about John Stewart - hate politics, hate political humorists, and he didn't even try to be that funny. shrug.
I was happy for the people who were so thrilled to win - the French lady for La vie en Rose - she was excited beyond belief and you could see from the clip she gave an amazing performance (even if nobody ever went to see that movie!). Javier Bardem - he is very, um, manly looking! We don't have many guys like that any more. Sort of reminds me of Robert Mitchum. Those Irish folk singers from "Once" - they were so thrilled. A friend of mine saw that movie and said it was really good - I should put it 'on the list.' The songs were all pretty terrible - I thought the August Rush gospel choirish song would win. And Enchanted got 3 nominated songs and didn't win anything. Everybody said Amy Adams should have been nominated. But I kept wishing she was wearing sleeves, when she was singing and waving those pale skinny spaghetti arms around!
For the others like Daniel Day Lewis, it was 'Oh thanks for another one of these, they are very nice." He actually looked pretty jubilant, for him - he is one of those gloomy, shy, and serious thoughtful people. Like Heath Ledger, a very Method-y vibrating sensitive raw nerve ending type guy (make great actors, not very happy people). And what is up with him and Colin Farrell with the golden earrings in both ears - that look only works for pirates, imho! Not a good look. George Clooney looked old. Harrison Ford looked really old - I can't believe he dragged himself through another Indiana Jones movie! And that 98 year old man they honored and made stand there and give a speech - he WAS old! Really old.
Oh well, the Oscars are very silly and frivolous and on way too late/run way too long, but we always watch them and love seeing all the stars come out. Katherine Heigl was there in her red lipstick and looking old Hollywood glam as she does. Regis Philbin did a really annoying red-carpet (he only likes to talk about himself, which doesn't make for a great interviewer! )
Oh well... back to it! __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires"
