| I am mad at your mother too, Wen she is just spoiled, rude, and selfish and thoughtless! And treats you like her slave! It sounds like you were better off when she ran away on the bus and you were raising your brother! sigh.
She reminds of the mother Sally Field played on ER for awhile. You really did have to grow up fast and be responsible at a very young age.
Oh VB MLette only went from Saturday til Thursday, so she's back again (she works Fri mornings at the hospital for my boss's secretary, she has for years, even though she has a full time job now - so she came to work with me Friday). :> She had a pretty good time, I think. She showed me some pictures in her digital camera of fish and frogs and turtles at an aquarium they visited, they went to an ice cream factory, she did some shopping - I think it was a good trip, but she hates the cold and a winter vacation to a cold place isn't her favorite thing!
MLette and I have tomorrow off (President's Day) but the guy's don't have it - it's one of those 'iffy' holidays, some companies give it, some don't.
'Jumper' was an odd movie - I like Hayden Christensen, and Jamie Bell and Rachel Bilson, and the jumping special effects - the idea of it was cool - but - it was sort of a movie that didn't have a point! It wasn't about anything. The 'good guys' weren't that good, and the bad guys were very evil, for no real reason (sort of a secret group who throughout time has been going around trying to kill all the jumpers because they are sort of jealous of their ability/think they are an abomination or whatever - plus what was up with Samuel L Jackson's hair?). The film just didn't really have a point, the characters didn't grow or change or learn anything, and they wasted no expense filming all over the world - but that didn't really have a point either. They could have done blue screen and back lot and it would have made as much sense and saved a lot of frequent flyer miles. It was just sort of one of those 'sensational thrill ride' type things that doesn't bear a lot of thinking about. So I guess I agree with the iffy reviewers.
We watched 'Eragorn' too - cute boy, cute dragon, it was also a pretty bad movie, and didn't even really have an ending, they were so obviously hoping for a sequel (which I don't think they'll ever make). John Malkovich very silly as the evil king whoever. The scenery was very nice - I thought it was New Zealand like 'Lord of the Rings' but I think it was Hungary, Slovenia and wherever else. And who doesn't like a boy and his dragon?
Valentine is sort of a silly holiday. It's supposed to be a holiday for boyfriend and girlfriends to be nice to each other, but then it is for kids, who have go give all the other kids in school little valentines, and then it's about everybody eating candy, and then they want you to send Valentine cards to everybody you know. Like most holidays, suddenly it is totally overblown! But any occasion to eat candy is a good holiday to me. I was laughing at the Muslim countries trying to stamp it out but there were still some Valentine things going on - who doesn't like LOVE?
I hope those couches get out of the building soon for the charity, so the other neighbors don't get mad about them - and blame your family about it! That would be unfair.
I went out to lunch with my 3 old Star Trek fan friends (we've been friends for about 25 years now). We tried an Irish restaurant - I was dubious, because the Irish are not known for their tasty cuisine! Except for soda bread and lamb stew and cornbeef and cabbage. But it was pretty much a regular restaurant, although they did have lamb stew that my friends got, and it was a nice place. I told them about going to see the guys from 'Blood ties' maybe and they all gave me a blank look (although one friend has read the novels).
Oh, I would never discuss the decision to go or not with Mr ML. I mean, if I lay out for him what a foolish and expensive thing it would be, why would he encourage me to go do it! LOL! The less said about these things, the better. __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires" |
