That kind of thing has been used only when the guy supposed to be in love with a woman was just obsessed with her, for example

I read in the lastest Robin Hood series, Guy kills Marian

but Sawyer's love is pure. That's one of the few things the producers have been consistent about. He struggled to accept that he wanted and needed her around, and now it's something similar to that, he'll probably want her away.
But I can't even picture Sawyer slapping her out of anger, the idea of him using a gun belongs to another planet to me.

I can't be wrong about this one.
The writers have done mean things to serve the triangle but this is crossing the limits, right?
