| Maggie glad to see you back posting! LOL that Skippy recognized your Dad's name - dogs are a lot smarter than people give them credit for being.
I liked Bon Jovi's Blue Christmas - he sounded almost as good as Elvis (and is very cute). Would say cuter than Elvis, but their looks are very different.
I was thinking Jason would have made an excellent vampire, especially when he had the long hair for 'Man of G-d' He would be a lovely creature of the night (and he could bite my neck any day of the week!)
No Scottie people were just saying "wouldn't it be great if 'Frost' plays at Tribeca this year" - it was more of a wish than a fact (at least so far). I hope it happens, though!
Poor Wen your parents - er - Santa really messed up! LOL! Maybe they didn't want Santa to come out looking better than them. Well, one toy is the same as the next to most parents - when I go to buy a video game for Mr ML Jr I have to carry a note with the name written on it and what game system it's for! But how can you mess up getting black men's skates for girls?! I remember Honey West! She had a pet ocelot and she was the coolest. I wanted an ocelot, not a Honey West doll.
I was just talking with the hygienist (got my teeth cleaned) about jobs going off shore - she was talking about calling tech support for Canon cameras and getting somebody in India with such a heavy accent, she couldn't understand a word the person said to her. (So I told her about Wen's brother being laid off and her son's company shipping overseas too). sigh. I'd like a presidential candidate who could do something about that. I did like Giuliani when he said he wants people moving here to learn English. I don't think that's too much to ask - all our ancestors did it! And having all the signage suddenly in English and Spanish really is irritating. We are not a Spanish country, last time I checked (although I guess populationwise that might not be true). grumble, mutter.
Heard the writers arent' going to write the Golden Globe or Oscar drivel - that might be an improvement. I don't know why they can't just announce the nominees and give out the award and let the person say thanks for 3 minutes or whatever. Do they really need the comedy routines, the dance numbers, the montages, the production numbers etc? Most of which are totally lame anyway? Well, the list of who died is always interesting (and sad). I think it's a slippery slope that shows are getting dispensations or whatever from the strikers so they can come back (some of the late night shows, which I never see anyway). Isn't that 'strike breaking' to go work when you are on strike? Ithink the writers are going to lose this fight and end up worse off than they were to start with.
Still sorry about Journeyman - probably my fault! LOL! Just Monday night I finally decided that I really did like that show and it was pretty cool. So of course now it's ending. One of the Canadian writer bloggers (thanks Maggie for that link) was saying that about shows - sometimes the writers don't figure the show out until around episode 6 or 8 and it finds its groove - but nowadays, shows have to be hits by the 3rd episode of they are history. Also saw that CBS is planning to get TV from CBC/Canada if they can't make US shows - that's another slippery slope! Most foreign writers are supporting the WGA strike/showing solidarity.
I forgot that January is pilot season, too - that's when they hire people and make pilots - but the writers have to write the pilots first. It's a ridiculous system anyway, to make 500 shows or whatever the same month from the same pool of actors and then let the networks pick 5 or 10 from that. It's totally bizarre and I think the strike is going to change/put an end to that. But if there are no pilots in January, there will be no new TV shows in the fall.
But it really scared me that some TV network whoever said they didn't need writers to make TV shows!! Yeh, if they're going to keep showing the dog show or idiots fighting while stranded on an island. Maybe they will start showing gladiators fighting lions next. :< I won't watch most of the reality shows. I liked Dancing with the Stars because it was dancing and it was fun. I like some of the shows on HGTV because they are pleasant and interesting (buying a house? redecorating? solving your clutter problems?).
I've never watched Survivor or American Idol (it's singing, but it's stupid and often mean spirited) or any of those other losing weight/getting married/whatever shows. Maybe they'll bring back the variety show (Ed Sullivan) and Walt Disney? Topo Gigo, anyone?
Writers deserve to be paid for their work. And TV is, for the most part, a vast wasteland. There was so nothing on TV last night I did laundry and baked cookies.
Ughh, we caught a mouse yesterday (that would be 3 so far this winter). I feel so awful for them - made the mistake of looking at this one and it was a really cute one. sigh. Mice are so adorable. But if they are pooping and sneaking around my kitchen and nibbling on the food - they are fair game! I would be a very bad Buddhist (or Jain). __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires"
