| LOL, too funny the overly fancy wedding with the government ministers and minor celebrities - sounds like one of those social weddings to impress people, but then, maybe the bride and groom are actually friends with those people. Sounds like you had a good time! Dancing to terrible music! LOL!
I was just joking - I have no idea why anybody would want to be President or Prime Minister with war and terrorists and all the responsibility for so much and all the criticism from everybody, people always making fun of you (especially if you are President Bush - ahem). You see people go into that office and they come out looking like old men, worn out and tired. At least the ones who arent' lazy! I'm glad we'll get a new president but I don't know who it should be/who will do the best job.
My Uncle is nice and gives a prize ($) to all the kids at the Passover seder who look for the Afikomen, not just the one who finds it - this avoids the stealing it and fighting over it. My dad glossed over the hiding the Afikomen part at his seder so he could move things along and not have to give out any prizes! Sneaky! And after the festive meal, my mother would usually not want to bother with the 2nd half of the Seder either! LOL! Not the proper holiday attitude!
This Yankee Swap, everybody picks a number and then opens gifts in turn from a big pile of gifts (each person who plays puts one in, obviously). #1 is the best because, since you had no choice, once all the gifts are open, you get a chance to swap yours for everything that everybody else has opened. So #2 can keep his or swap it for #1 gift, #3 can take his or take the gift of #1 or #2 person, and so on. It's really ridiculous. Usually there is something that is popular and gets traded back and forth (making a lot of people disappointed) and there is usually a lot of laughter (but also sometimes people get really mad about it!). Last year Mr ML put in this big ceramic penguin as sort of a joke gift and it was the hit of the evening - it got traded back and forth a lot, while everybody laughed their heads off at who would want that thing. It was funny. Also last year the kids were tromping around on top of the packages in their excitement, and Mr ML opened a little hand-held video game and the screen was smashed because one of the kids stepped on it. You can only go into it hoping you end up with something you might mildly like or have any use for, and not get attached to anything you open, and not get your hopes up (and hope nobody throws a tantrum over it). There is also a good chance you might go home with something you put in, what with the trading and all. (So if you put in something to get rid of it - it might be back anyway! LOL!) Which is pretty sad for a 'game' that is supposed to be fun! The family is usually pretty kind, if they see somebody really likes something, and the person is younger, they don't take it away from them. But it's still stupid.
I hope Wen's doctors figure out the story of her puffy legs and feet and can fix her up too - this has gone on a long time and it sounds so bad, especially during the holidays with so much to do and places to go. sigh. Some medical stuff is mysterious. My brother got some infection in his lung last year and it took forever for the doctors to figure out what it was (and that it wasn't cancer - phew), and how to treat it and how to make it go away. sigh. Medicine, for all the doctors pretend to know everything, isn't an exact science!
That show 'Journeyman' really is very good. It's weird because I don't like the main guy - he's odd looking and makes all these grimacing sort of faces - but the acting, and writing, and whole scifi time travel thing and the family stuff at home (inconvenient when your husband/dad/brother keeps vanishing and leaping back in time to fix stuff and then popping back again) keeps me watching it. I don't know if anybody else is watching it (or if the ratings are bad and it's getting the axe). It looks like an expensive show to produce too and with the writers strike, they are counting their pennies. Especially cool when he accidentally changes something in the past and he gets home and the world is different - don't you hate that! LOL!
Oh, I just checked at NBC and there is a message from the show creator that there will be one more show and that's it - network didn't pick up the 'back nine' and so the show is essentially over. Not surprised but that's too bad, it was quality television but TV can't seem to afford to do much of that anymore. Airing the last episode on Wed 12/19 - glad I saw that or I'd have missed it. __________________ Jason B is #1 with me "I'm with the vampires"
