| Halloween parties were never Nick's favorite kind of thing, but he had no excuse to decline this invitation and disappoint the kiddies who were expecting him to appear in costume. So far, everything appeared normal and Nick was preparing to drive back to his home and to make supper for himself. He was not expecting any trick-or-treaters to knock on his door, so he tried to find something to give them.
He was just about to get some candy for the kiddies who he was sure were knocking on his door when a ghostly shadow drifted past the window. It appeared to be just hovering above the table and looked menacingly over at him.
Nick was not terrified, however, he felt eerily reminded that he once had an encounter with a haunted pet and how disorienting it had become for him then. The thought of that meeting distressed made it unlikely he would engage with the spectre, so it had become clear that he would go on as though it had never happened.
