In Lucas' office at Tree Hill High, in the afternoon. Lucas notices Quentin in his doorway. Quentin asks if Lucas wanted to see him, and without waiting for a response, walks into Lucas' office before sitting in a chair and arrogantly putting his feet on Lucas' desk. Jumping in to answer his own question, Quentin suggests that Lucas wants him back on the basketball team. Lucas dryly responds that he won't put Quentin back on the team unless he takes his feet off the desk. Cockily, Quentin tells Lucas that he's surprised it took him this long to ask him back, to which Lucas replies that he hasn't asked him back yet. Unconcerned, Quentin tells Lucas that with the team he's got, he needs him.
Lucas, looking Quentin straight in the eye, tells him how things are going to go: Lucas is the coach, and Quentin has to do exactly what he says - starting with taking his feet off Lucas' desk! At this, Quentin's feet drop to the floor. Unblinking, Lucas continues that he is building a team, and if Quentin can't be a team player, he won't be on the squad.
Quentin nods, taking in what Lucas has said, before attempting to turn the tables. Quentin tells Lucas that they both know he's the best shooting guard in the state. Leaning forward, he continues that he won't play zone defense, or for that matter any defense at all. He wants his minutes on offense, and he'll play or sit out whenever he wants to. He also wants Lucas to choose a different point guard. With complete disregard for Lucas' authority, he says Lucas will do exactly what he says. When they win, Quentin might even let Lucas take credit.
Quentin then moves to leave, before stopping in the doorway. With a grin, he tells Lucas that he can call him "Q," and that he likes Lucas. The grin then fades as he tells Lucas that's how things are going to go. Just so they're both clear.
