They will probably do it for Desmond, Juliet, Ben and new characters.
The fact that Sayid will get a FF so early makes me think that we'll see more characters after the rescue than I thought we would. It seems like they don't plan on keeping the suspence about who'll make it off and who won't.
It's just my impression, but I could be wrong.
