I don't think Jack would ever just brush Kate off. There's way too much there. Not to mention, Jack just isn't that way. Not to people he cares about. I remember in 'The Brig' it kind of bothered me when I first saw that he wouldn't talk to her in private and then the more I thought about it, the more I couldn't really blame him at all. While I don't think he was jealous, I do think he was hurt no matter how much he tried to fight it, and I think that finally manifested itself a bit in 'The Brig.' That's also what made the ILY even more powerful. He chose to look beyond his hurt because he loves her. He's not going to give up on someone he loves and cares about. Ever. And while he thinks she's with Sawyer he's not going to give up their friendship and connection. That would hurt even more.

I wonder sometimes how people can discount the FF, the ILY, etc. I guess that's another topic but the way the story has been presented it just blows my mind sometimes.
