Stars to grace red carpet for premiere of supernatural thriller

NZ film The Tattooist will premiere in Auckland on 29 August, with stars of the movie Jason Behr (The Grudge), Mia Blake (No. 2) and Singaporean actress Caroline Cheong (Light Years) all confirmed to attend the ceremony.

The supernatural thriller, which follows tattooist Jake Sawyer (Behr) on a devastating journey into the dark heart of Pacific mysticism, opens in cinemas nationwide on 30 August.

Co-stars Robbie Magasiva (Sione's Wedding) and David Fane (Sione's Wedding) will also attend the premiere, as will the director, Peter Burger (Outrageous Fortune, Turangawaewae) and producer Robin Scholes (Once Were Warriors).

About the film

American tattoo artist Jake Sawyer wanders the world, exploring and exploiting ethnic themes in his tattoo designs. At a tattoo expo in Singapore, he gets his first glimpse at the exotic world of traditional Samoan tattoo (tatau), and, in a thoughtless act, unwittingly unleashes a powerful angry spirit. In his devastating journey into Pacific mysticism, Jake must find a way to save his new love, Sina (Blake) and recover his own soul.

The Tattooist is an official New Zealand/Singapore co-production between Eyeworks Touchdown and MediaCorp Raintree Pictures of Singapore. The film was written by Matthew Grainger and Jonathan King, based on an idea by Vela Manusaute.
