Well when I first started to make videos it took forever because I had to rip all the clips from my dvd's, but now that I have been doing it for so long I have a big library of clips on my laptop available to hand.
It depends what type of video - one like this which has quite alot of overlays and effects takes a great number of hours - in this case I was ill over the weekend so I had some time and this one was done over two days. Others can take forever because I start and stop or loose interest.
You just have to be prepared to spend alot of time on a project if you want it to turn out half decent.
