We're not saying people cannot complain about characters but taking direct hits at ships is completely uncalled for when the other ship know they are being made fun of. The situation has turned into a personal one, which is why we had to take these measures.

Let me ask you a question. Have you ever been part of an anti-ship couple at a popular board? It is hell on wheels for the moderators because so many people become offended. Sure, you can say don't look into the other ship's thread but we all know the posters still do.

Anti-ship threads were horrible on the OTH and it pretty much turned into a poster-bashing war which is why we banned them from the board when I was a moderator there. And even though I am no longer there, I think the board as a whole, is not as bad as it once was and people appear to be respectful. By having anti-ship threads, the amount of people offended will become tons. Trust me, I have the lovely experience of knowing what it was like and I feel it would turn this board into an extrememly hostile place.

We can pretend that the anti-ship would have good discussion pertaining about the ship but that seldom happens when the fandom is as big as the Lost fandom. Someone will always have a comment which others would say is rude.

There is a difference between dislike and bashing. And as of right now, between the ships, bashing has occured to the point where it makes blatant fun of other ships, not just the couple.

I understand that you really want the board to have anti-ship threads, but it is the last thing the board needs as it would just become a horrible environment.

^It's allowed to a certain extent. As long as the majority of the conversation is against the character, and not primarily the ship, it's okay. Just as long as it doesn't take over the thread, so to speak.
