You know what would be great?

If they could somehow lure ASP back and have her write the REAL finale for this show.

I'm sorry, but last night's episode was one of the worst Gilmore Girls, in my opinion.

Here's why...

It didn't feel like it's usual self. It was slow moving, awkward, and a big chunk of the writing was lame. Was the scene with Lorelei looking at Rory in bed touching? Yes. But, some of the dialogue was boring and useless. Lane and Rory's scene took too long.

DSR and his writers can't write Emily. I noticed this last week during the graduation episode. Emily is portrayed so bi--chy! That's the thing about ASP. You could tell that she LOVED these characters and even though Emily was harsh, she was appealing as a character. Besides her line to Rory, Emily could have been softer. I give credit to Kelly Bishop for making it work. Remember the canoe/kayak speech?

Where is the romance??? As much as ASP was criticized for not having LL be all lovey dovey, she did have a way of writing their scenes and KISSES so romantically. They were like an old Hollywood movie couple. Was there a reason DSR had to pan to the party during the LL kiss, giving us a 3 second kiss we've been waiting for all season??

Where is the dialogue?? C'mon, people. The LL dialogue was ridiculous. That's it? was all I could think. I thought we might actually see these two say "I Love You" to each other and have the other one respond. Stop wasting time on scenes about rollercoasters OR TAYLOR'S STUPID AND DISGUSTING SPEECH, and let LL talk and communicate. Let us see the necklace being given to her. It's not a book! I don't want to imagine; I WANT TO SEE THE SCENES ON MY SCREEN.

The show is even farther away from reality than usual. Christiane Amanpour gives Rory her card after meeting her for five minutes in her pajamas, no less? I hope Scott Patterson gives me his number so readily when I meet him.

The weird camera angles. Some of the close-ups were too close.

How about a hug between Lorelei and Rory, Lorelei and Emily, or Lorelei and Luke? What is this Seinfeld, where they don't hug?

NO PARIS IN THE SERIES FINALE??!?!?! i rest my case.

The episode was not a total loss, some highlights were...

The acting from all of the actors working with such a dumb script. Kudos to the cast for trying to make it work. Specifically, LG and SP were amazing.

This writer loves Babette and Kirk. Her lines this season have been hysterical. A Maury sandwich sounds good right about now. Kirk's sash speech was so him.

Luke making the tarp was a good idea and the party/planning had a great town feel.

Overall, I didn't feel this was a fitting ending to one of the best family shows on TV.
ASP must be laughing herself silly right now...

Thanks for the threads, the memories, and the spoilers!!! Happy DVD watching.
