Lorelai obviously didn't realize that Luke heard the conversation. If she did, I doubt any of this would be talked about. I think they are setting it up because the party is Luke showing Lorelai how he feels.
She doesn't think it's her turn because of his lack of reaction to the song. She thinks she totally embarrased him, and herself, so shes retreating back to that Lorelai who is denying her feelings. __________________ No matter what happens. No matter where you go.
