Lorelai is standing outside Luke’s Diner staring at it trying to convince herself to walk in. She walks in and Babette and Patty look shocked. Kirk says that Lorelai is not getting her stool back because it’s his now. Luke looks pleased to see her. She orders a coffee to stay. Babette and Patty say that it’s nice to see her – it’s been 9/10 months. Kirk has the exact date that Lorelai was last in there. Lorelai and Luke make small talk about the weather. Lorelai changes her mind and decides to take her coffee to go. They say their byes and she walks out.
02:
Lorelai is driving in her jeep when her cell rings. It’s Sookie taking care of Davey who has chicken pox. Martha has it, too. Sookie put Jackson at a hotel since he hasn’t had chicken pox yet. Lorelai offers her house to Sookie for Jackson. Lorelai tells Sookie about her going into Luke’s. Lorelai says that it was terrible and awkward since everyone was staring at her. While they’re talking Lorelai’s car starts jerking. She pulls over and calls Gypsy.
Paris is at the kitchen table and the minute Rory gets in Paris runs to her. Rory just dropped Logan off to the airport for a meeting he has in SanFran. Paris is opening her envelopes from a load of schools while Doyle and Rory are there. She’s using her lucky letter opener. Paris asks Rory to choose an envelope to open and then asks Rory to open it. Paris got into Yale Law School and she starts screaming and jumping and hugging them. Paris thanks Rory for her support and then speaks about admiring her getting into the head of the YDN. Rory opens the one from Harvard Law School and she got into that, too. Same reaction with the screaming and yelling and hugging. Paris gets into Pennsylvania School of Medicine. Paris is upset that the two of them are not as excited as before. She decides that their reaction should pre-empt where she should go. Paris starts freaking out where she should go – Law School or Medical School. She tells Rory to open the others and as she gets accepted she gets upset because now she has to choose. Rory tells her that she should be happy to have options. Paris says that at least Rory knows what she wants with the YDN and she wouldn’t understand unless she doesn’t get that Fellowship and then has to choose between 6 other papers. Rory looks a bit down since she hasn’t heard back from them yet. Paris and Doyle assure her that she is an excellent candidate for the job.
Lorelai is on the phone with Gypsy who cannot fix her car. Sookie brings Jackson and she gives him a slew of instructions for not being a slob or annoy Lorelai.
Lorelai has to get a new vehicle since hers is officially dead. Jackson offers Lorelai a ride in to work at 4:45am. She declines and says that she’ll ride her bike that she hasn’t ridden in 12 years.

Lorelai is riding her bike when her phone rings and she answers her headset. She asks Rory why she’s blue; is it because Logan is away. Rory says that she’ll see him soon but she is blue because Paris got into 6 schools, Lucy and Olivia signed a lease on an apartment near Manhattan. She really wants the Fellowship and she hates waiting. Rory asks why Lorelai is panting. She didn’t go into Luke’s today. Rory tells her that she should since she needs to get over the hump. Lorelai explains about the car being dead and says that she’s riding her bike to work. Rory tells her to pull over. Even with a headpiece, Rory says that she’s hanging up.
Lorelai is looking at cars in a magazine at the Inn. Sookie says thank you for having Jackson. Lorelai asks if everything is ok with the two of them. They are ok, only that he’s been getting on her nerves lately. Michel comes in and tells Lorelai to get a Rolls. He drives a Golf. Sookie tells Lorleai to close her eyes and picture her dream car. She pictures a swan float. Michel tells Lorelai that it’s disgusting to get a used car because you don’t know who used it before. Lorelai decides to get a new car since she has more money now than 8 years ago. Sookie can’t help Lorelai with this but she Luke can. Sookie convinces her to speak to him about it. The phone rings and Sookie answers it. It’s Jackson explaining that he did something.
Lorelai calls and asks Luke if he’ll accompany her to look at new cars. He says ok.

Luke and Lorelai are in his truck. She thanks him for coming today. There are awkward pauses. Lorelai asks about April and the upcoming boat trip.
Rory comes home and Doyle storms out angry. She broke up with him. Doyle says that he has no idea why she broke up with him. Rory asks Paris why they broke up. Paris has a huge decision to make and doesn’t want Doyle to influence her decision. Also, statistics show that there is a slim chance that she’ll stay with her college boyfriend. Rory says that she loves him, though. Paris says that she’ll deal. Paris created a point system to choose her grad school. Rory still doesn’t have any news from the YDN. She invites Paris to go out with her, Lucy and Olivia tonight.
Jackson and Sookie are looking at the dollhouse that Jackson broke when he was admiring it. Sookie is upset at him since it’s the only thing from Lorelai’s childhood that she likes .Jackson says that he knows it’s from the fact that she’s still angry that he lied to her about getting the vasectomy and now she’s pregnant. She doesn’t want to be angry but she’s just overwhelmed. Jackson apologies.
Lorelai doesn’t like any of the cars they’re looking at. Luke says that he has lots of time. She explains that with the Wrangler she got in and just knew it was her car. Luke makes slight comments on Lorelai’s reasonings for not wanting certain cars. Her cell rings and she explains to Sookie that it’s awkward to buy cars with exes. She wants to buy a car just to get out of there. Sookie doesn’t tell Lorelai why she really called. Lorelai and Luke continue car shopping.
05:
Lorelai is in another Wrangler and Luke tells her that it’s exactly like her old car. Lorelai says that it’s different and she doesn’t get that feeling. Luke says that she’s being ridiculous. They start arguing. They bring up bathroom tiles when Lorelai says that only her opinion matters since she is the one purchasing the car. Lorelai says that Luke is like this because he must be hungry. He will never eat anything from her bag. Lorelai is smiling and says that it’s nothing because he must just have low blood sugar. She’s not buying a car so they get in his truck to leave. They bicker but in a friendly way.
Lorelai rides up her bike to the house and Sookie and Jackson are sitting on the front steps. She’s happy that her and Luke got into a fight because they were being so polite to each other before. She says that she had a lot of memories about her car. Sookie looks upset and tells her that Jackson broke the dollhouse. Lorelai looks shocked. Sookie and Jackson both apologize. They found someone online who is a wizard at restoring dollhouses and they are taking it there tomorrow to get him to fix it.
Rory, Lucy, Olivia and Paris are at Rich Man’s Shoe chatting about their new place. They sound very excited. Paris is quite and not talking. Paris decided to go to Columbia. Lucy is excited for her but Paris just shrugs it off. Rory asks Paris if she’s ok and she says that she just misses Doyle. Rory says that she didn’t have to break up with him, but Paris says that she had to even though he wasn’t pressuring her. He told her that she should make her own decision. Wherever he decided to go he’ll fit himself in. But, Paris couldn’t. Every time she was thinking about a school she kept thinking about Doyle and what jobs he would get close by. Paris starts crying saying that she’s 22 and shouldn’t be feeling like that about a guy until she’s 30. She asks Rory if she’ll be making a decision based on Logan. Rory says that they decided to work each other in. Paris asks her if Logan gets the SanFran job and Rory gets the NYT Fellowship where would she go? Rory says that she’ll do the Times since she doesn’t want to make sacrifices just yet. Paris tells her that that is exactly what she’s choosing to do – put her career first. Rory says that if they have to do the long distance again they will. Paris comments that sometimes choosing to be apart is really “choosing to be apart.” Rory looks at her all thoughtful-like.
06:
Luke pulls up to Lorelai’s house and knocks at the door. Jackson opens up and Luke looks surprised since he is in his PJs. Jackson thought he was the pizza guy. Lorelai comes out. Luke tells her that he found a 99 Jeep Wranger on craiglist and he checked out the VIN and it’s good, he also test drove it and its good. Luke also negotiated the price down for her. Luke tells her that the idea is ridiculous with her wanting her old engine in her new car. They bicker about her bike in a friendly way.
Paris tells Rory that she decided to be a doctor. Doyle walks in and Paris is upset that he’s in. Doyle says that he changed his mind about them being broken up. He tells her that he loves her and he will not let her go. While she doesn’t want to base her decision on him, he’s willing to base his decision on her and will go wherever she decides to go. She smiles and walks in her room.
Rory finds a letter for her and uses Paris’ lucky letter opener to open it. It says that she didn’t get the Reston. Rory looks crushed. |
