By using the word "compartamentalize", he obviously has been thinking long and hard why all this was happening to him -- possibly realizing things with that shot of him sleeping in April's bed -- our first sign of his remorse. No, I don't think that Luke will repeat his behaviour -- he's learned to open up. Lorelai, on the other hand, still to me, even at this time, reacts first and thinks later. It's been her MO from the very beginning. Maybe it's just the way she has survived all her years. If there are any doubts of repeat behaviour, I'm betting on her rather than him.
I just don't think we nee d to size up their apologies. Plus, I think Luke had more to explain in that particular moment. Because his situation was actually complicated. Lorelai's wasn't. She did something really stupid, and she apologized for it. That's enough for me as far as apologies go. And I don't think Luke is going to need a big and huge explanation about why Lorelai married Chris. Why? Because I never thought his insecurities were really about Christopher in and of himself. I think they were about his own worth as a person. April taught him that he's a good person who deserves to be loved. Lorelai's letter showed him that his presence in the lives of others is a gift. We may feel that we need a big explanation from Lorelai, but Luke won't. He'll decide to forgive her and trust her. Because he loves her and sees her as a good person. And through his growth this season, I think he understands why she did what she did. Lorelai could explain until the cows come home, but words are just words. L/L just need to trust each other, and they will prove through their actions that they are trustworthy.

This isn't how it goes down, though. Lorelai actually believes what she's singing. Which leads me to believe that Luke reacts in a way that is unfavoreable.
