- Scene 4 - Day 1 - Luke adjusts to the changes that come with having a teenage daughter. April has given Luke a bracelet. April tells Luke that the Apache used to put little pieces of something on their arrows to they'd aim more true. Luke tells April that it's sweet and thanks her. She tells him to put it on and, not wanting to hurt her feelings, he does. April says it's fabulous. Luke agrees. They admire the bracelet.
- Scene 5 - Day 1 - Dragonfly Inn Reception - Spring Fling decorations are everywhere. Lorelai and MIchel are at the desk, checking in a family (the Sinclairs). The Spring Flingers are exceptionally cheerful, which annoys Michel. They are mid conversation, Michel asking Mr. Sinclair if something is a rhetorical question. He'd asked, "Who doesn't love the Spring Fling?" Lorelai tells Michel to go sort out the room keys, then welcomes the family. Mrs. Sinclair says they've been dreaming about the festival since the middle of January. Winter was a doozy, the kid got his tongue stuck on their swing set, mom had to use the hairdryer to thaw him out. The phone rings as Lorelai is checking them in. She asks Michel to answer it. He doesn't. Lorelai answers the phone. It's Rory. Intercuts between Lorelai at the Inn and Rory on. Rory has a job interview with the Providence Journal-Bulletin and struggles with decisions about her future.
- Scene 6 - Day 1 - Commuter Rail Train - Rory is riding back from Providence. She's in a great mood. Lorelai asks how it went
- As Stars Hollow prepares for its annual Spring Fling festival, Rory brings Logan home to see where she grew up and shows him around town.
- Lorelai: So, umh, You bringing a guy home! [on the phone at the DFI]
- Scene: Rory and Logan standing at the bottom of the stairs at the CS. Logan is holding flowers.
- Lorelai: Hey, welcome, welcome [running down the stairs to greet Logan and Rory. She hugs Rory]
- Scene: Logan and Rory sitting on Rory’s bed at the CS. They are looking lovingly into each other’s eyes. Rory is smiling. They kiss each other
- Scene: Logan and Lorelai in the kitchen. Lorelai is cutting up something. Fades to a close up of Lorelai’s face as she smiles a bit uncomfortably at Logan.
- Logan: [standing in the kitchen with Lorelai] I don’t want you to be worried
- Lorelai: [with an amazed look on her face] You just lost millions of dollars!
- Scene: Logan and Rory sitting at a table in Luke’s diner and Luke is serving them food and they all look out the window looking shocked b/c of the amounts of hay
- Rory: [talking to Logan and they sit at a table in Luke’s diner. She waves her hand is a dismissive fashion] It’s so not a big deal.
- Luke seems to be ranting and upset about the maze. Fades to Luke angrily lifting and tossing a bale of hay away from the front of the diner’s window. With Taylor looking on. Taylor has a clipboard in his hand and is talking to Luke. It has to be a Luke Rant there.
- There’s a town meeting. Taylor angers the town by spending the entire Spring Fling budget on a huge hay bale maze. April visits Luke. We saw Jackson, Sookie, Lorelai, Luke and April at the town meeting.
- . It's the town meeting, but it starts off with the very end of an LL talk/scene. You can't hear them at first, but Taylor starts the meeting and they separate, and Luke says that they'll see eachother later. Sookie and Lorelai talk about Luke for a second. Quote:
Sookie: So how was it with Luke?
Lorelai: Polite. Succinct. Fine.
Sookie: Good.
Lorelai: Yeah. (It was actually sort of a hybrid yeah/ eh.)
| DC Transcript Quote:
Taylor: If everybody will please take their seats I’ll call this meeting to order.
Lorelai: Well I guess we better...
Luke: See you later.
Lorelai: Kay!
Taylor: Now I am aware that a small but vocal minority of you have expressed concern about the progress of this years spring fling festival I will like to take this time to assure you that everything is going as planned.
Outrage. Everyone begins talking amongst themselves.
Sookie: So, how was it with Luke?
Lorelai: Uhm, Polite. Succinct. Fine
Sookie: Mm, good.
Lorelai: Yeah.
Taylor: There's nothing to worry about.
Babette: But what about our booths we don't have our booths?!
Taylor: Everything is under control; take for instance the hay bale maze is coming out wonderfully.
Luke: It's taking over the whole town.
Taylor: What do you mean?
Jackson: There's hay everywhere! I haven't seen so much hay since... I have never in my life seen so much hay!
Everyone: Yeah!
Taylor: Everyone please take a handful of chill pills.
Gypsy: Where the hell is my damn lemonade booth
Taylor: You don't need to worry about your lemonade booth.
Gypsy: Why not? The festival is tomorrow. And I have to start squeezing my lemons and I don't have my equipment or my booth!
Taylor: You don't have to worry about that Gypsy because you don't need to squeeze lemons because you don't need lemonade because there isn't going to be a lemonade booth this year.
Outrage.
Gypsy: What?!
Taylor: The budget for the lemonade booth has been reallocated to the hay bale maze.
Babette: What about Mory's salty nuts?! How is he suppose to have his salty nuts booth if we don't have a lemonade booth? If people start eating salty nuts and they don't have easy access to lemonade their mouths will fall off.
Taylor: Well, you don't have to worry about that Babette because there is not going to be a salty nuts booth because the budget for the salty nuts booth has been reallocated to the hay bale maze.
Outrage. Everyone begins talking amongst themselves.
"What?!"
Lorelai: He spent the entire budget on the hay bale maze.
Sookie: No.
Taylor: I put the entire budget into the hay bale maze.
Sookie: No!
Lorelai: Taylor, you can't do that I have an Inn full of guest who've come here, travel miles, withstood winter, who've blow dried their tongues of their swing sets so that they could get to the spring fling!
Taylor: Yes!
Lorelai: They expect certain things, the traditional events, pie eating contests, pony rides, they don't want just a hay bale maze and nothing else.
Taylor: Feast your eyes on this bad boy. *unveils a 3D Maze diagram.*
Miss Patty: Taylor!
Luke: That goes right up to my diner; it's blocking my entire diner!
Babette: I don't get it, is it a race?
Taylor: You people clearly don't understand the long and rich history of mazes. Ladies and gentlemen of Stars Hollow perhaps this, will help *unveils Kirk in a costume, with a "Minitor" head.*
Shock. Everyone talks amongst themselves.
Lorelai: Oh my god!
Gypsy: What the hell is that?
A costumed Kirk: I am the Minitor!
Lorelai: The weird thing is he's been in that head under that velvet cloth this whole time.
Kirk: Although the word labyrinth is used interchangeably with maze, maze scholars insist on a distinction
Babette: Ey Kirk? What's with the cow's head?
Laughter.
People begin standing up to leave as Kirk continues talking and Taylor gives "come on people" looks.
Kirk: A labyrinth is a universal maze, a maze without branches, without choices. A maze on the other hand can be very confusing. There are choices to be made, blind allies down which to proceed. Now the first maze in recorded history...
| - Lorelai sees how serious R&L relationship has become and worries that Logan is too irresponsible for Rory. There's tension in the air between him and Lorelai. Lorelai, who still doesn't trust Logan, lays it all out on the table after a few tension-filled scenes between them.
- Lorelai: [walking down the sidewalk and talking to Sookie] He’s an over coiffed, over privileged young man.
- Rory waits to hear news after a job interview with the Providence Journal-Bulletin. Rory gets a job offer and struggles with the possibility of walking away from the Reston Fellowship at the NY Times if she gets the job at the smaller paper. Logan spends time at Lorelai's house, and he and Lorelai talk. They+Rory drink a wine together at CS.
- [If Day 3 is Saturday, Day 2 has to be Friday. So....] Gilmore Mansion looked like they just got done shooting there. They set dinner for 6 ... It's still mocktail time (no booze). There were only a few things for decoration, nothing that wasn't here before.
- Scene 20 - Day 3 - Saturday Day - Stars Hollow - The maze is in its full glory, taking up all of the town square, and extending to the surrounding streets. Townsfolk are out and about. A bus decorated with the Dragonfly Inn Spring Fling decorations pulls up. 20 or so Flingers emerge, followed by Rory, Logan, Lorelai and a grumpy Michel. Some of the Flingers are skeptical about the maze. The kid asks if people chase you. Dad Sinclair says no, it's just a maze...made out of hay. The kid tries again, asking if there are people with squirt guns in there. Ma says it's just a maze. But made of hay! The kid turns to Michel, who says he's preaching to the choir.
- Lorelai:"Michel." Michel: "There are no lights or music or guys with squirt guns. I'm just saying..." Logan turns to Rory...[missing page]
- The kid asks Logan if he likes hay bale mazes. Logan says he's crazy about them! The kid thinks that's cool. Logan and the kid walk ahead, talking. Lorelai and Rory are alone for a minute. Rory says that it seems like Lorelai and Logan are getting to know each other. She's gald. Lorelai's glad too. Lorelai and Rory look around, and see that the maze is a huge success. Townspeople and tourists crowd the area, happily lining up to go through. The Troudabour (!!!) wanders around playing. Lorelai asks if Taylor could've been right. Rory tells her to bite her tongue. The sinclairs head off and Logan returns to Lorelai and Rory. Logan says Taylor is a genius. They get into the line behind Michel and some Flingers. Babette and Morey approach, looking ecstatic. Babette says "whoa" a lot. [end of page]
- Scene: Logan and Rory walking through the maze holding hands and smiling.
- A pretty major turning point occurs in the Luke and Lorelai saga. There's a pivotal scene at the end. Lorelai is alone in the maze: it looks like she is searching for someone/something....
- Scene: Lorelai walking through the maze from one direction looking behind her. Luke is speeding through the maze from another direction with a bag in his hand. They accidentally bumped into each other before realizing who they’ve bumped into. They stop and talk to each other. Lorelai and Luke apologize to one another and admit they both made mistakes that lead to the end of their engagement. Lorelai apologizes to Luke for running to Christopher after their break-up, while Luke admits to having used April as an excuse for keeping Lorelai at a distance.
- Lorelai: [talking to Luke who has a concentrated look on his face as he looks at her and nods his head in understanding] I’m sorry! I messed up. I mean I never admitted it to you that it was wrong what I did and it was and I am really sorry.
- Luke: [looking at Lorelai] I’m sorry too.
- Best of all, Lorelai utters the words we've been longing to hear since last May: "I was possessed by some evil spirit when I slept with Christopher."* [???] Although the heartfelt powwow doesn't include any physical contact (i.e., smooching, necking, petting, etc), it certainly paves the way for a possible May-sweeps reunion.
And finally the Town Troubadour returns to the Gilmore Girls. He’ll be wandering and serenading in the streets of Stars Hollow in that yet to dry-cleaned plaid coat, performing “Raise The Spirit”.
Melissa McCarthy, Yanic Truesdale, Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. Guest stars: Liz Torres (Miss Patty), Rose Abdoo (Gypsy), Sally Struthers (Babette Dell), Ted Rooney (Morey Dell), Grant-Lee Phillips (Grant) , Vanessa Marano (April Nardini).
