I'm no Lorelai-hater, but if Rory ends up riding the carriage with Lorelai rather than Logan (if it was originally meant for Logan and Rory) then...that doesn't sit well with me at all. David Rosenthal is cornering Rory and Lorelai back to that teaser from A Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving, where both were watching two lonely women who only have one another and ended up fighting. That was the episode where ASP made Rory announce that she was applying for Yale, something that Lorelai didn't want as a sign that those two needed to individuate.
Being best friends doesn't equal to be siamese twins. And even siamese twins need to be separated in order to survive.
