All season long we've been shown how strong they were, how committed they were to each other. DSR is now retconning everything we were shown about this couple. And not only that, he's doing it in the cruelest way possible. Why a turned down proposal? That's not bittersweet, that's heart wrenching. No matter how Rory turns him down, it's still heart wrenching. I don't want to hear about how hard it was for the JJs last year. You all knew there was another season and you all knew LL would eventually be reunited. You have your happy ending. We don't have that. This manufactured ******* is the last image we'll have of our couple. If last season had been the end of the series and your final image had been Luke not jumping at Lorelai's ultimatum and Lorelai jumping into bed with Christopher would you have just said, "Oh well, Luke just wasn't ready for marriage yet. Maybe they can be friends someday." Please try to keep that in mind when you go off on your "maybe Rory's just not ready for marriage" spiel.
