| Quote: | I do understand ABs POV and I'm not saying it's an easy choice. But from a characters POV I don't agree that her story is over. I would enjoy seeing Rory doing what she was meant to do, struggling to be who she wanted to be, etc.
In my own little scenerio I know many people wouldn't agree with, I think it would be fun if she came back the Hollow and took over the Gazette. It's a small paper yes, and it's a small town, of course, but it would interesting to see her take something small like that, make it into something successful and see her grow from there. I'd love to see her interacting with the town once again, covering town events, arguing with Taylor over important topics, bringing politics and real world issues into Stars Hollow. It would give her a slower pace to start out at, in a fun and familiar environment. She can even bring Logan along and together they could consquer the small news journal world.
I really do think it would be interesting. Not to mention seeing her really interact with her mother again. I think it would bring around some of the old GG feel while still having things moving forward. But like I said, I know most wouldn't agree with it because they'd see it as a step back for Rory. | I think this really should be on the R&L thread, but it's here so I'll respond here.
Managing the Stars Hollow Gazette is really something one might choose to do in retirement, when a person is looking to slow one's life down. A young, vigorous person who wants to see the world (and maybe make a name for herself in her chosen field) isn't going to be able to do so running a local circular. I'm sure the citizens of Stars Hollow read more than just the Gazette and will be able to follow Rory's career and have her bring them real world issues via another platform.
I think the times we've seen Rory most excited was when she thought she could get Logan to take her to meet Seymour Hirsch, when she had the opportunity to work for Mitchum Huntzberger, when she became the editor of a major university newspaper, when she was planning her trip with Logan to Asia, when she met Hugo at Logan's party and was offered the chance to write for him, and when she interviewed with the NYT guy. That says to me she wouldn't be happy limiting herself to Stars Hollow and a small paper, which justifiably must focus on the community it serves and not as much on the greater world that interests Rory.
And next we have Christiane Amanpour, which will probably cause Rory to pee her pants. __________________ The four stages of Life. |
