| I completely agree with this sentiment. For me, the most frustrating thing about the past season has been the destruction of Lorelai's credibility. I just don't believe her any more. I don't want to belabor this point but, while acknowledging Luke's part in the disintegration of the relationship, Lorelai's decisions to first bed and then wed Christopher simply made very little sense to me. We can blame the writers (particularly Amy) for setting this up in Season 6 and taking it too far this season, but now those same writers need to step up and give us an explanation. I miss pulling for Lorelai, flaws and all. I want to be able to respect her again. And I don't want to have to interpret glances and "wanting to want" speeches and car analogies. I want Lorelai to explain it to Luke (and, ergo, to me) in so many words. I don't need sackcloth and ashes, but I do think we deserve to hear a frank and open discussion between these two - not a "let's talk"-fade-to-black/knowing glances after the fact cop-out. |
