He was just trying to make it clear to Mindy that he wasn't screwing around with her, and I think a lot of the attitude came from the fact that he KNEW she was lying to him. That's how I read it anyways.
It was ridiculous that there was no mention of Lamb though. The Sheriff just died and there's no fallout from that? I don't think so.
