That answer doesn't seem to be good enough for Mrs. Kim, so Lorelai says that she'll return them in their present condition. Lorelai says that she'll see her at the shower, and Mrs. Kim says that she won't, and that Lane knows why. Lorelai starts into a round of 20 questions, asking if there's a problem between her and Lane ("yes"), if Mrs. Kim can put it aside for one day ("no"), if it's that big of a deal ("yes!"), if there's anything Lane can do to change Mrs. Kim's mind ("yes"), if Lane knows what it is ("yes"). Lorelai asks, "what do I have 14 questions left?" Mrs. Kim says "I have work to do." Lorelai pleads one last time for Mrs. Kim to come and Mrs. Kim says that life is full of disappointments, and runs off to yell at a shopper.
The Mrs. Kim line in the beginning to Lorelai reminds me of the one when Richard says something like, "People die, we pay, people lose a foot, we pay," etc, etc. |
