| Quote: | Its really not so strange for a parent, especially one comfortable being a parent, to display emotions.
I am not a touchy, feely, kissy person - I am almost Luke in drag, scary picture I know - the only person I am truly comfortable hugging and kissing is my daughter and grand-daughter.
Doesn't mean I don't love my husband just means I'm not really good with all that emotional stuff in public or 24/7.
Luke has found his comfort zone with April, if he had continued to be standoffish I would have thought it was a wee bit weird and out of character as he does hug...Mia, Rory, Liz, Lane etc etc.
Lorelai with Chris, while I found the "I love you." over and over to be over the top her being effectionate with her husband should be normal especially for newlyweds. Lorelai's a tactile person, she touches, she grabs, she is all over the board with her expressions.
Now the "I love you" well that just seemed like a sub for the whole thing ASP said she didn't want to do..."You're pretty." - "No. you're pretty." - No, no YOU'RE Pretty."
I gotta say both their actions seem normal to me. And I also got to say I am sick and tired of basketball taking this show off on Tuesday. Then they tease you and say "Oh we'll rerun it on Saturday." But do they? Noooooo...they put it on on Sunday at 3:00 in the afternoon when Crazy Baby was running like a freaking nutcase through the house and I couldn't watch it! Is there not like twenty thousand cable sports channels that they could show this on?
Once again - basketball - no Gilmore Girls in Baltimore. Sucks to be us. Thank the god of TV that I have this forum to fall back on. | Well, then maybe it is due to my education. I was raised by warm parent who become cold when it become physical surrounded by friend who were raised the same way. Let just when we met people who hugged their friend we went all 16 years old Paris on them. Anyway, my point is that we were raised by parent who like Luke felt unconfortable showing affection before we were born and who did not change once they had kid no matter how much they loved us.
I never saw Lorelai as being much of touchy feely person. Sure she hugs and kiss when something happens. When someone leave town or win something or just when she is about to have sex, but otherwise I rarely noticed her giving kisses or holding hands just for the heck of it. For me it was pretty rare. That it be with Luke, Max, Jason or her parents I never saw her as being all lovey dovey. I found her more normal if you will, not over the top. Now, suddendly there is almost not one eppisode exept 7.13 where she does not kiss Chris when before she could go three without so much as giving someone a goodnight kiss.
For me, it went to fast and left me going "Uh?", but maybe that is just the way I was raised that is confusing my jugment. __________________ Java Junkie- Mulder&Sculy-Booth&Brennan- Luke/Lorelai, Mr. Sheffield/Fran- Niles/C.C.-Harry/Ginny-Ron/Hermione- Anne/Gilbert- Mr. Darcy/Elisabeth-Will/Lyra...I'm a shipper |
