Lorelai lives to do the opposite of what her parents want her to. I don't see her seeking their approval for anything! I think she wants their acceptance, not their approval. And unti she receives that, she doesn't have a desire to be a part of Richard and Emily's lives. She deplores going to see them for dinner for crying out loud! But if they accepted her lifestyle, I think she'd enjoy going to see them much more. On the other hand, it's important that Lorelai accept Richard and Emily for who THEY ARE. That's what this show has always been about for me and I will be truly disappointed if that is not rectified by the end of the series...no matter what couples are together. At this point, the only way to save Lorelai is to have her end up alone at the end of this season, maybe ordering coffee from Luke. If there is a Season 8, they could try again, but this season, I could not buy their reconciliation for reasons I previously stated--she seems committed and happy with Chris, so I haven't bought that she is missing Luke at all. | I agree with you on this - if they were supposed to be showing her missing Luke I certainly didnt see it...to me she seemed happy in her marriage to Chris......she is the one who chose to end it with Luke, she did the one thing she knew would prevent a reconciliation i.e sleeping with someone else (especially Chris)...she turned down Lukes offer to elope....she seems to want to be with Chris - afterall she said herself he was the one who was always there....they have always got each others back etc And I dont think her marriage to Chris was anything to do with wanting acceptance from her parents........she married him because she has always loved him and was happy with him......I am not saying she hasnt changed her mind on this - the next episode will tell us what she is thinking (I hope) but at the moment I dont see how things in her marriage have been so bad that she decides to end it.......yes Chris should have been there at the hospital but its hardly a divorceable offence!
