I can understand your perspective, but mine is just a little different. Lorelai is undoubtedly flawed. The few times I saw Lorelai try to broach the subject of April with Luke, she was shut down and dismissed. Should she have fought harder? Yes, probably. Lorelai sort of dug her own grave by trying to be supportive and not voicing her true opinion. I certainly don't condone Lorelai's sleeping with Christopher immediately after breaking up with Luke, but I can understand that she was devastated and did something incredibly stupid in her pain. However, I do think that Lorelai still respects Luke and his values of family. If Lorelai was such a selfish person, wouldn't she consider Luke the bad guy with respect to their break-up? Wouldn't she try to assign all the blame on him? When Luke came to Lorelai and asked her to elope, she did the honorable thing and told him about her and Christopher. Did she want Christopher at that point in time, no. But neither did she want to lie to Luke. She chose honesty and accepted it's consequences in this situation. As stupid as I think she was to get in that predicament in the first place, I do have to respect how she handled the situation once it happened. As with all things Gilmore, I don't think it is all black or white. But that's just me. Thanks for answering my question.
