Peyton -- I honestly cannot see how it would be any surprise that Peyton is the Prom Queen. My being a LP fan is certainly no factor in this, as I don't really care if she wins it or not. It has to do with the fact that Peyton was (is) very popular, and I'm certain that type of popularity didn't just vanish. She's the rocker-chick, but popularity is her burden. She dated the most popular guy (Nathan) in High School since 11th grade (the show will remind us). They were an on again/off again couple, as their breakups were probably normal gossip..and continued all the way to the 11th grade. Peyton was best friends with Brooke, who was (is) captain of the cheerleading team. They were basically the IT CLICK, as Broke even asked Peyton, when Peyton and Haley started bonding as Haley was still an outcast, "You two don't really think you're going to be friends tommorow, do you?" Meaning Peyton was a part of the IT click, but Haley was an outsider.

Brooke -- I don't see why the reaction would be any surprise in Brooke being Prom Queen, because I've stated above, she was part of that click with Peyton, and Brooke is Captain of The Cheerleading Team...and Class President. She loves her popularity, and bathes in it. Loved seeking out guys for her conquests. Changed along the way of knowing Lucas and Haley and became a more likeable person to people, as before it was mentioned that she wasn't that great of a person in her past. And most likely is more popular than Peyton now, though I don't feel that she was in Season 1.

Haley -- Haley became popular when she and Nathan fell in love, and the school quickly became totally aware of her. In Season 3, she got some bitch hate from jealous girls in school after her music tour, but I'm certain that everyone still knows who she is, and the majority of people are probably still fine with her. Plus, shes a great tutor.

So people expressing surprise at any of the girls being Prom Queen puzzles me, quite Frankly. Peyton was popular in Season 1 and is dating Lucas now, another major popular guy, as Lucas became a part of the popular crowd after a while. Brooke is popular, was dating Lucas also. And Haley became quite known, popular as well.

So this "audience expresses surprise over who wins Prom Queen" must be...

1: Something to do with Haley being pregnant and getting selected, if it's her...although I don't see what the big deal is about a pregnant girl getting picked. But it is High School, and High School is hell, and I know people in High School can call pregnant girls awful names, but everyone knows Haley is married, thus saying "slut" doesn't fit her. I don't see why any girl would feel the need to call another girl "slut" just because they are pregnant in High School anyway.

2: Something to do with the Nathan and Brooke scandal, and it's weird to some people at prom seeing Brooke win, after that whole ordeal.

3: It's Shelly, for whatever reason, who wins.

4: This is weird, but both girls win it? Um...Nah.

5. The semi-bloody Prom dress of either Peyton or Brooke after their fight with Psycho Derek?

Oh, I'm not sure what this expressing surprise over who is Prom Queen exactly means.

From the last thread:

Syler- Umm...Nathan and Peyton didn't date that long. Mark said back in season one that they only started dating the summer before junior year. So...umm they definitely weren't dating freshman year.
I fixed my post, Susan.

I guess when Peyton mentioned their Freshmen year as if they were "smitten" with each other even then, she meant friendship. She was just speaking of friendship.

One represents the state of mind of want in which want can always be changed.

The second represents a direct comparison of the two girls in which one can never compare to the other; the true love can never be outdone.
