I am assuming that Chris knows about richard being in the hospital - somehow he knows because he does wind up showing up at some point. We do see Lorelai calling and I assume she is trying to reach him, maybe leaving him messages. Either he doesn't have his cell phone with him or he's not answering his work phone but somehow he finds out about it.

I'm going with him maybe not listening to her messages and when he does, he shows up at the hospital.

His whole thing about drinking Luke's coffee was just silly and then his "I have a right to know" - seems so over the top and ridiculously possessive. She has to report every interaction to him? Just because they are married?

I'm watching the episode now, and Lorelai just made me want to have a baby.
