While I still think Lorelai will be the one to break up - if only to provide some rationale for her 'journey' - I must say, whoever breaks up and however they break up - if Lorelai ever regrets writing that letter, then she really will pass the point of no return. Forget about an eighth season, it's doubtful that 80 seasons would be enough.
She might regret hiding it, she might regret any number of things, no one really knows the point of this 'journey'.
