When Luke was doing things her way she didn't make snide comments about where he lived; she allowed their daughter to see him and stay with him for weeks. She told him after the field trip that he was the fave parent on the trip, etc. She is just desperate and playing dirty.
And I'd be curious about her own relationships. Didn't she say at one point to Lorelai something about getting married "again"? Can't recall exact words but it implied she had been married. Who knows how many fellows she has had in her life.
Family law is one of the ugliest areas of law that exists - particularly when children are involved. I have worked in civil, criminal and family law and the stuff that parents do and say about one another when it comes to custody/visitation issues is appalling. And, of course, it is the kids who are used most in the tug of wars that go on in these situations.
April, in real life, would most definately be included in the proceeding. Children even under the age of 10, depending on maturity, have been asked for their thoughts and feelings about visiting, living with a parent. This is just stupid, inaccurate drama for the sake of drama.
I too wish they had kept it out and just had it happen and later learn about the outcome. More soap opery hooey in my opinion. |
