They're totally Lost, but I can help

To stop Lost from sucking so bad, Greg David has some suggestions for the producers

The news out of Los Angeles that Lost will only be around for two more seasons - or less - was a relief.

I'm a huge fan, but I'm sick of seeing the producers running it into the ground.

When Lost debuted, the mythology, the rogue group of people named the Others, and finding out just who the survivors of Flight 815 were made the drama intriguing.

But now, in Season 3, Lost has become a shadow of its former self. Mired in too many plotlines, too many red herrings, and a bunch of characters I couldn't care less about, Lost has ... lost its way.

But there's still time for co-producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse to pull this one out of the fire and make it great again. Here's how:

- Bring back the monster, but make it different. Not the lame one made out of smoke - that's not scary - make it a T. Rex or a velociraptor, something we can see, something that can run, scratch and tear. Something like... the polar bear. That reminds me...

- Bring back the polar bear. The sheer "what the hell?" drama of having a hungry polar bear on a tropical island made for great, suspenseful TV. The bear should maul one of the main characters every week, so not only do the survivors have to find a way off the island, but they have the added pressure of becoming polar bear spoor if they don't.

- Get rid of the extras. Sorry, but introducing guys named Bruce or Barry, guys we've NEVER SEEN BEFORE doesn't work for me. It smacks of the classic Star Trek, where you knew that the secruity dude in the red shirt was gonna die, rather than Kirk or Spock. Don't insult me by adding peripheral characters that don't add to the plot.

- Get rid of the Tailies. Eko was the only one of the Tailies that remotely mattered to me, and now he's gone. Never mention them again. Please.

- Focus on one island, not two. Having two islands is too confusing, and adds yet another twist to the Lost mythology. It's easier to picture everyone on one island, confined there and having to get along.

- Kill Claire. My apologies, but if I hear her yell "My baby, my baby," one more time, I will pull my hair out. Claire brings nothing to the story now that she's given birth. Time to sacrifice her to the polar bear, maybe during sweeps.

- Finally, settle the Jack-Sawyer-Kate love triangle once and for all. Four words: Sawyer cuddling Jack = ratings.
