| If Lorelai is unhappy, she shouldn't stay in this marriage because of her step child. But I do see her making the first move to end the marriage, with Chris finally giving in later in the season. I don't think he's going to give up without a fight - hence those add'l episodes for DS. But he has to realize she doesn't love him, and I would hope he has enough dignity and responsibilty to his daughterS to know when it's over for good and not to prolong the inevitable. That would only make it more painful for everyone involved. Quote:
The post you quoted was a clarification of an earlier post specifically about Rory's relationship with Chris. I was saying that Chris not knowing about Richard's illness would be better for Rory because I don't think their relationship is reparable if he knowingly ignores the fact that her grandfather is in the hospital seriously ill. And, as a Rory fan, I want her to be able to keep the relationship with Chris that has developed offscreen that she values.
This is a separate issue than if the relationship breaks up in such a way that the direct consequences hurt only Chris and Lorelai. Rory will still be hurt and there will still be issues but, with work, it's not inconceiveable that she and Chris could maintain a relationship. And if it leads to Rory finally having a real conversation with Chris about the past then so much the better.
But Chris not coming to the hospital when he has knowledge of Richard's condition is not just him being a bad husband. It's him being an unforgivable father.
| catkirk, IA if he ignores Rory and Lorelai during Richard's crisis, it would be an unforgivable act as a father. But I wonder if Chris HAS to reach bottom, has to do something so blatantly negligent before he realizes he has alot to ammend with Rory. It may force them to confront and finally resolve their issues. He's already starting to get a clue about what he's missed, but his behaviour hasn't really shown that he "knows" his daughter now or is sensitive to her feelings. __________________ "And they got these smiles on their faces like their lives are gonna work out the way they dreamt or something...suckers!"
