But this is on Lorelai and it's on Chris. I hope both of them work very hard to make amends to Rory following the breakup. Especially Chris, since he seemed to not take her feelings into consideration at any point during the elopement or the marriage.
The post you quoted was a clarification of an earlier post specifically about Rory's relationship with Chris. I was saying that Chris not knowing about Richard's illness would be better for Rory because I don't think their relationship is reparable if he knowingly ignores the fact that her grandfather is in the hospital seriously ill. And, as a Rory fan, I want her to be able to keep the relationship with Chris that has developed offscreen that she values.

This is a separate issue than if the relationship breaks up in such a way that the direct consequences hurt only Chris and Lorelai. Rory will still be hurt and there will still be issues but, with work, it's not inconceiveable that she and Chris could maintain a relationship. And if it leads to Rory finally having a real conversation with Chris about the past then so much the better.

But Chris not coming to the hospital when he has knowledge of Richard's condition is not just him being a bad husband. It's him being an unforgivable father.
