I haven't seen the scene more than once, but from my memory, the writing was probably fine/great and realistic for a 13 year old. It was VM's acting that ruined it. It was over-the-top crying that was worse than Rory's breakdown in the psychologist's office last season.
Yes, a 13 year old can be immature and cry. But I've never seen a kid go off the handle in such an extreme way within three seconds. That's called a friggen temper tantrum, not a kind who's venting her frustrations.
When she was sick last week, I loved her tantrum because she was SICK and moody and taking it out on Luke that she couldn't go to the party. This time, the over-the-top doesn't work as well. |
