Back to Marty -- we don't know his reason for lying. Maybe Lucy is the jealous type. He did back Rory into a corner, but I still say it's not for Logan to get involved, other than to give his opinion and give Marty a chance to tell Lucy himself. Maybe that's what he does - tells Marty it wasn't fair to involve Rory like that, and if he doesn't tell Lucy, he will. But that's not what I got from the description.
