Reruns Fuel CBS Monday; NBC Runs Away with 18-49 Title

Fast National ratings for Monday, March 15, 2004

NBC's lineup of original episodes wasn't enough to beat CBS' slate of repeats for the overall ratings crown Monday, but it was enough to score a win among adults 18-49.

CBS averaged an 8.5 rating/13 share in primetime. NBC was close behind at 8.1/13, while ABC was a solid third at 7.4/12. Without an "American Idol" lead-in, new comedy "Cracking Up" fared poorly along with the rest of the FOX lineup, finishing a distant fourth at 3.3/5. The WB averaged 2.4/4 and UPN 2.2/3.

Among adults 18-49, NBC's 5.8 rating led the competition by a fairly sizable margin. CBS was second at 4.4, followed by ABC, 3.7; FOX, 2.4; and UPN and The WB, tied for fifth at 1.3.

"Fear Factor" won the 8 p.m. hour for NBC with an 8.6/13. "Yes, Dear," 6.4/10, and "Still Standing," 7.0/11, put CBS in second. ABC took third with the movie "The Green Mile." A repeat of "That '70s Show," 3.8/6, and "Cracking Up," 3.4/5, did well enough to give FOX the No. 4 spot. A "7th Heaven" rerun averaged 2.9/5 for The WB, beating out "The Parkers" and "Eve" on UPN.

CBS moved into the lead at 9 p.m. with "Everybody Loves Raymond," 9.6/15, and "Two and a Half Men," 8.8/13. NBC dropped one spot with "Las Vegas," 8.7/13, which nonetheless did a good job of holding its lead-in audience. ABC's movie improved to 7.6/12 in its second hour. "Forever Eden" kept FOX in fourth. Reruns of "Girlfriends," 2.1/3, and "Half and Half," 2.0/3, moved UPN in front of The WB, which aired an "Everwood" repeat.

At 10 p.m., "CSI: Miami" posted a 9.6/16 to hold the lead for CBS. "The Green Mile" concluded with an 8.2/13 for ABC, while the premiere of "Average Joe: Adam Returns" scored a 7.2/12 for NBC.
