The fact that she lets him comfort him there is so huge. I think that's when I knew Spike's feelings didn't strictly go one way. There was
something there on Buffy's end too. And you're right about that moment showing that his feelings went deeper than just a vamp fixation.
Plus SMG and JM knocked that scene out of the park acting wise. So much said without words.
