I suppose it probably made more sense for Warner, business-wise, to capitalize on the demand and release it ASAP.

That's what I would assume.
From what I've heard about Titans, that's basically what happened with their season one finale, so there's precedent I guess.
Yeah, I was surprised to hear this season was so short.
